Are All CBD Oils Equal?

Updated: Jan 2, 2020

Today's market is flooded with CBD oil, knowing how to choose the best one is very important.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant. It works with the cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies – these receptors are a part of a regulatory system called the “endocannabinoid system”. The endocannabinoid system helps to maintain homeostasis throughout the brain and body, playing a pivotal role in physiological processes such as mood, memory and pain. It is safe, non-psychoactive and non-addictive, perfect for those seeking a natural remedy.

So why aren’t all CBD oils the same? There are a number of factors to consider when considering which one to choose.

One of them is knowing whether or not it’s full spectrum. A lot of CBD oil being sold is an isolate and not full spectrum. Isolate does not contain many of the beneficial compounds a full spectrum contains. When choosing a CBD oil, opt for a full-spectrum CBD oil instead of an isolate.

It’s also important to know if pesticides were used while growing the hemp. Since the use of CBD oil is to improve health it is beneficial to choose a brand that is organically grown.

CBD oil needs to have between 16-19mg to have a beneficial effect. Make sure the packaging states each serving contains at least that much.

Last but not least, choose a brand that is not mixed with other oils like coconut oil, MCT oil, essential oil or flavorings. These additives dilute the dosage and are not necessary to obtain the benefits derived from consuming the CBD oil.
